New Orleans Races

A new year is the perfect opportunity to discover a new you. If your 2019 goals revolve around health and wellness, it’s great to kick off those lifestyle changes in a way that’s exciting and fun. Building new habits can be difficult, particularly when it comes to fitness routines, but starting off with a bang will help you find the enthusiasm to support long-term success.

A great way to get stoked on exercise is jumping into a race. Races are social sporting events,  and you’ll find a lot of support from other participants. You can sign up with friends or family, or if you’re flying solo, you can meet potential future workout buddies. Races are also an effective way to cultivate a sense of accomplishment. By participating in an event with a clear, attainable goal, you’ll walk away with a sense of achievement that will boost your confidence as you work towards long-term goals.

Participating in regular races is a useful method to measure the progress of your fitness journey. And don’t worry: at a race, you always set your own pace. But if you do find yourself wanting to improve your time or your form, we’ve got you covered with customized running plans. Don’t be afraid to reach out: we work with runners (and non-runners) of all experience levels!

To pump yourself, getting the right gear is a must. Invest in your success and consult the knowledgeable staff at Varsity Shoes. Together, you can review your fitness goals and find the perfect equipment to support your success.

For a small, slower-paced city, New Orleans offers a wealth of races year-round. A great race resource is the New Orleans Track Club (NOTC). NOTC is a membership-based running and walking club that produces and promotes running events as both a competitive sport and a pathway to physical and mental fitness. NOTC welcomes runners and non-runners alike and offers members discounted entry fees on races. Joining NOTC is be an easy, effective way to hold yourself accountable to sticking with healthful habits in the new year.

Over the course of a 10-week program, participants engage in discussion, activities, and running-based games with trained coaches in order to build life skills and a commitment to fitness.
